Dummy Wars: When to Say Goodbye!

Dummy Wars: When to Say Goodbye!

Although it is not uncommon to see children up to four years old with a dummy plugged into their mouths, the actual role of these soothing aids is to pacify newborn babies in the first few unsettled weeks of life. But many parents find it a mammoth task to get their child to part with their dummy – especially as  from about 18 months they’re as precious to a child as a baby comforter or a special teddy bear.

Many experts believe that the easiest time to get rid of the dummy is when your baby is around six months old. This is because babies this young have poor long term memory and are more likely to quickly forget that they ever had a dummy.  If, however, like many parents, you decide to wait until your child is a little older to give their soother to the “dummy fairy” then substituting it for a baby comforter may significantly help with the transition phase.

Our award winning Sleepytot Baby Comforter has helped parents and little ones to give up their dummies. You can see our award winning range of baby comforters here.
